RAZLOG–From Antiquity to Eternity
Razlog is a small town located in the southwestern region of Bulgaria , in the district of Blagoevgrad . The district borders four other Bulgarian districts, as well as Greece and the Republic of Macedonia. The valley of Razlog (800 m above see level), situated on the boundaries of three mountains - Rila, Pirin and Rodopi, is an amazing view of high hills towering high over fertile meadows. It is nestled between two hills - Golak to the north and Sarovitsa to the south Mesta River flows here. The town is 155 km to the south of Sofia, 53 km to the south-west of Blagoevgrad, 141 km south-west of Plovdiv and 6 km north of Bansko.
The central location of Razllog makes it a starting point for two mountains - Rila and Pirin. To Rila Mountain, one can set out along a marked trail from Predela Saddle, distanced at 12 kilometers, where all buses with destination to Blagoevgrad and Sofia have a stop. Razlog is an administrative, cultural and economical center of the Municipality of Razlog. Characteristic features of its atmosphere are the charismatic combinations of different architectural styles during the Revival – the style of the old houses in the 30s of the previous century and the modern architecture of nowadays. The sightseeing tour of Razlog is a pleasant and interesting experience. 41 residential buildings of the Razlog-Chepino house revival architectural type have the qualities of monuments of culture.
The recognition of Bansko as a world-known resort helped the tourism development in Razlog municipality, as well as the other surrounding villages. Tourism is a priority field with a great influence over the local economy and is assessed as a most perspective sector for investments.
Razlog municipality bristles with tourist resources – natural, cultural, and historical, concentrated on a relatively small territory. The unique location between three mountains – Pirin, Rila and Rhodope , proposing magnificent nature with rich flora and plenty of mineral springs, own ski zone, newly build golf course according to world standards, the cultural and historical sites create perfect conditions for various forms of tourism. The touristic facilities are quickly expanding – luxurious and family hotels, SPA centers, holiday settlements, sports complexes.
All settlements in the municipality of Razlog offer good facilities for specialized and alternative tourism. There is a significant investment interest, related to development of hotel-keping in the town of Razlog and the resort of Predela, as well as the villages of Banya and Dobarsko . The construction of some large tourist complexes has already started in Razlog and Banya. In process of realization is the construction of tourist, sport and amusement centre, as well – the Pirin Golf Holidays Club in the site of Betolovoto, located in the foot of Pirin Mountain, with a magnificent view to the mountains of Rila and Rhodope . The investment in the complex between Razlog and Bansko amounts to 62 million euro. It will be built on an area of 90 ha.
Besides the golf course with 18 holes and hotel with SPA centre, the complex will include a reception area with a car park, residential area, commercial centre, a horse-riding zone, and a sports complex.
The realization of the project for the resort site of Predela is forthcoming: it includes the final construction of ski zone Kulinoto, aiming at the creation of a new modern skiing resort with gondola lift and more than 50 km of ski runs, the construction of a water park and other tourist facilities.
